When my kids were younger I did a lot of consignment store shopping. Now I’m mostly on the selling side! You never know what you’re going to find at consignment stores and sales. To benefit you need to have a solid understanding of the cost of new items, and a good awareness of what’s in your kid’s closet. It’s easy to overbuy just because it looks like a good deal. The older your kids get the longer they wear their clothes…so it’s harder to find great used clothing unless it’s dress clothes that don’t get worn much.
I checked out the Kid To Kid store in Plano, and like most consignment stores it’s a mixed bag. Some amazing deals, some just okay. The key is to visit on a regular basis, so you won’t miss the best stuff.
They sell kids clothing (sizes preemie-14), shoes, toys, books and baby equipment plus maternity wear. If you want to sell items they will buy them on the spot (during specific hours) and you can get more money if you opt for store credit. There are stores in Plano, Frisco, Allen, McKinney and more. Visit their website for specifics.
