It’s almost Mother’s Day Weekend (because let’s face it, we should be celebrated for at least the weekend, right?)! Check this post if you’re looking for a Mother’s Day event or craft activity on or before Sunday.

Here fishy, fishy! Don’t miss the Youth Fishing Derby. Prizes awarded for the largest fish caught per age group and overall. Pre-registration is recommended; check-in is at 7:30 AM on day of event.

Cottonwood Arts Festival
Saturday & Sunday
Cottonwood Park, Richardson
A juried art show with live music, food and a children’s art area. The artists’ works are available for purchase, as are food and beverages, and some children’s events require a fee. Free admission.

All About Birds Family Event
Environmental Education Center, Plano

Join us for a morning of FREE family fun as we celebrate the timely theme of migration and learn about birds in our area! Enjoy kids activities, raptor talks, identifying local birds, bird vendors and more. Preregistration required.

Bee With Your Mom
Heard Museum, McKinney
Saturday 10am-noon
In honor of Mother’s Day, we will offer a fun event for mothers and their families on the day before. Children can decorate a free bee house to give to their mothers. You’ll also learn about native bees that build individual nests and create provisions for their offspring. During this event, animal ambassadors will be available to meet. This program is included in general admission and free for Heard Museum members.

AsiaFest 2016 will showcase the rich cultures of Asia: Japan and Korea in the north; China, Taiwan, and the Philippines to the east; Vietnam and Malaysia in the south; and Bangladesh, India, and Nepal in the southeast. The numerous cultural demonstrations, performances, and vendors will provide a fun and engaging time for your entire family.

Sounds Like Science

Make waves and some noise in this fun and funky science show! The Mad Scientist will create crazy cacophony with a garbage can, a swinging sound tube and a metal pipe! Deerfield Music Festival
