SafetyTown

Safety Town Safety Weekend
Central Fire Station, Frisco

This event offers a new  focus on safety education. There will be time to explore the fire engine, safety house demonstrations, activities in the village buildings and as always jeep and bike rides will be offered for those 40 inches and taller on a first come first served basis.

Texas Heritage Festival
Heard Museum, McKinney

The Heard invites y’all to put on your cowboy hat and mosey on over to the Texas Heritage Festival! Guests are invited to celebrate all that makes the Lone Star State so spectacular. The Texas Heritage Festival will feature toe-tappin’, knee-slappin’ Western music, local artisans, historical demonstrations, and interactive children’s activities (like “cow patty” tossing!) You can also rustle up some tasty Texas grub, say “Howdy” to our resident wildlife ambassadors, and explore the Native Texas Butterfly Garden. The young-ins will love exploring the Heard’s Pioneer Village, comprised of eight pint-sized buildings typical of prairie settlements in the late 1800s–such as a school house, general store, and settlers’ cabins! BrickUniverse Plano LEGO Fan Expo

Professional LEGO artists from around the world (such as Rocco Buttliere from Chicago or Jonathan Lopes from San Diego) come and showcase their LEGO masterpieces. BrickUniverse will also be a hotbed of LEGO Star Wars fun and Star Wars LEGO builds. Ice Cream Crank Off
Chestnut Square Historic Village, McKinney

In 1994, Killis Melton told his son-in-law: “I’m always up for a chili cook-off, but what Texas needs in the summer is an ice cream crank-off!”  And the rest is history!  In 2015, over three thousand people enjoyed the tastes of homemade ice cream, great music, magic shows, and fun kids’ activities. The Crank-Off has been featured on The Food Network and in American Profile Magazine in addition to the Dallas Morning News and local papers and magazines. The Killis Melton’s Ice Cream Crank Off is held each year in June.

Kids Gone Wild

Wear your favorite summer gear for the beach party theme and get ready to clown around at performances by Slappy & Monday and Magician Magic Mike! Enjoy crafts and activities provided by Galleria retailers, free face painting, balloon magic and stilt walkers. Kids under 42 inches can also experience Galleria Dallas’ Play Place area with colorful jungle-themed climbing elements, seating for grown-ups and fun interactive elements for toddlers.

Mini-Maker Fair
Sci-Tech Discovery Center, Frisco

A weekend of fun and hands-on activities. This special celebration of the Maker Movement is presented by Raytheon and hosted at Sci-Tech Discovery Center. The festivities will include special guests, demonstrations and vendors to highlight the inner Maker in guests of all ages. Demos will be presented by the Frisco Public Library (3D printing and more), Newton’s Lab, jewlry making by Howard Greisdorf, OnPoynt (how to build aerial robots) and more! $10 adults/kids, $8 military/seniors/teachers, $5 members
