Happy Mother’s Day Weekend!  Ok, so it’s not technically a weekend holiday, but who cares.  I sure hope you’re taking some time to pat yourself on the back.  This is a tough job, and we all deserve some praise.  In case you’re looking for something to do this weekend with your crew, here are five great options.  For more check the PAM Calendar.


Allen Arts Festival
Watters Creek at Montgomery Farm, 970 Garden Park Drive, Allen

In partnership with the Allen Arts Alliance, the sixth annual Allen Arts Festival returns to Watters Creek this spring. A selection of over 80 outstanding juried artist will display their wares. Festival events include children’s art activities, music and choral performances, hip hop flash mob, artist demonstrations, storytime, art talks, and band performances on the Village Green. Food trucks will be on-site with popular food items, and Watters Creek has restaurants that offer many choices and a sit-down eating options.

The 8th Annual Charles Barr Memorial Concert presents award-winning 13-year-old violinist Claire Wells.  Free.

Deerfield Music & Art Festival
Deerfield Clubhouse 4549 Old Pond Dr, Plano
Saturday 6-9pm
Featuring strings and brass members of the Plano Symphony Orchestra (PSO) in an outdoor concert, along with professional Broadway and jazz performers. Childrens’ events including face painting, balloon animals, and the PSO Instrument Petting Zoo, an interactive learning experience for the children. Free

This Side UP! Family Connection Night
Cox Building Playhouse, 1509 H Ave, Plano
Saturday 6-8pm
Mom is MMMarvelous!…. A Mother’s Day Focused Free Family Connection Night that’s MMM good! Minute to Win it Games, Marshmallow Family Challenge and a MARVELOUS Martial Arts Demo by AMA Black Belt Academy and….More! Moms can even break some boards! PLUS an M&M guess how many contest and you could WIN the loot inside!   Come on out for a night of good ol’fashioned community FUN!  Gift for each mom.  Bring your own dinner or snacks (optional).

Mother’s Day Concert
Sunday 6-8pm
A W Perry Homestead Museum, 1509 Perry Road, Carrollton
This year’s concert will feature traditional bluegrass music by The E Flat Porch Band. Bring a picnic basket, blankets, or lawn chairs. Free ice cream and lemonade will be provided. Children can make an old-fashioned handmade gift for mom. Event attendees can also create a theme for their picnic and enter the annual Picnic Contest in one of three categories: Best Family, Most Elegant, or Most Creative. Registration for the contest begins at 5pm and judging takes place at 5:45pm.
