Raptor

Dallas Arboretum Labor Day Weekend
The Arboretum is celebrating the weekend with $5 admission, $8 parking (available online)
Saturday 9am-2pm: Beekeeper Visit. Meet our Beekeeper while exploring the inner workings of a honeybee hive. Find answers to interesting questions like, why do honeybees make honey and why are they so important? Then, test your beekeeper skills to find the queen bee!
Sunday 10am-2pm: Home Depot Kids Workshop – Join us for a free kids’ workshop, brought you by the Garland Road Home Depot, where your little craftsman or craftswoman will practice their tooling techniques. All ages welcome.
Monday 10am-2pm: Activities will bring the Texas Storybook Flower Village to life, including a petting zoo, live music and a red, white and blue stroller parade with special prizes awarded.

Raptor Center First Saturday
Blackland Prairie Raptor Center, Lucas
Saturday 9am-2pm
Join us for a day of outdoor fun and education about raptors! Meet our raptors up-close at 10am and noon for a great birds of prey program. Hike our prairie trails with expert Master Naturalists. Learn where raptors go and how hard it is to make the trip. Enjoy our new Bird Blind, see what birds come to our water dripper. Bring a picnic lunch! $5/person, 3 and under free.

Nature Walk
Lewisville Lake Environmental Learning Area
Saturday 10am-noon
Join us for our monthly naturalist-led nature walk. Animal tracks, deer trails, wildflowers, butterflies, singing birds…we never know what we’ll find! The hike will last about two hours. There is no additional fee for this activity beyond regular admission to LLELA ($5/person; children age 5 years and under free). Reservations are not required.

Nasher First Saturday
Nasher Sculpture Center, Dallas
Saturday 10am-5pm
Bring the kids and enjoy free admission and fun family programming on the first Saturday of every month. Presented by Target. September Big Idea: Heritage  Art Project: Family Frames

The Jungle Book Kids
Plano Children’s Theater
Friday, Saturday & Sunday
On the run from Shere Khan, a ferocious tiger who has banished him from the jungle, a human boy named Mowgli is aided by an agile panther named Bagheera. Along the way, the two meet a sinister snake named Kaa, a herd of elephants, and a giant bear named Baloo, who teaches them the swingin’ musical rhythms of the jungle. After surviving a dangerous encounter with a band of monkeys led by King Louie, Mowgli and Bagheera are forced to run for their lives. Shere Khan returns, leading our protagonists to rally their follow jungle creatures into battle and restore peace to the jungle.

Zip Line Day
Heard Museum, McKinney
Saturday 1-4pm
Soar through the treetops of the Heard Wildlife Sanctuary as you travel down the Ropes Course’s zip line! Purchase one ticket for each time you would like to go down the zip line. $12 per person. End of Summer Party
Texas Pool
Monday noon-6pm
The community is welcome to be our guest. Members are free, $5 for non-members. Come swim and join in the cannonball contest and water games! Lifeguards are always on duty to keep you safe. You can bring in food and non-alcoholic drinks or purchase snacks and drinks on site. The grills will be fired up so you can cook your own food. You are welcome to bring in your own lawn chairs, space fills up quickly.
