The butterfly house includes native species, which vary by season and what is available from suppliers. The classic tale of kindness to animals trots, crawls and flies onto the stage in Doctor Dolittle JR. All of the characters we’ve come to love through the stories of Hugh Lofting and the magical movie musical are given new life in the stage version.

A Salute to America Concert
Sunday 4pm
St Andrews United Methodist Church, Plano
Free concert with free snow cones following the concert. St. Andrew Chancel Choir and Imperial Brass, the Bells of St. Andrew, and the Salt and Light Youth Choir, performing a variety of patriotic and Americana music. A military honor guard will provide the presentation of the flags, and a special invitation is extended to all veterans as each branch of the military will be recognized during the program. Children will be invited to come forward during one of the concert pieces, waving American flags that will be given to them.

Texas Pool, Plano
Monday noon-6pm
The historic Texas Pool is celebrating its 55th summer season. Join us on Memorial Day from 12-6 PM for a FREE party at the Texas Pool. Put a little cash in your wallet for the new Texas Pool T-Shirts and Raffle. Bring your camp chairs, canopies, and coolers (non-alcoholic beverages). The snack bar will be open and the grills will be fired up. Play traditional water games like Sharks and Minnows, and Watermelon Ball. Be sure to enter the Cannon Ball Contest. At 3 PM we honor the National Moment of Remembrance with the Star Spangled Banner performed by Julie Pham Miles. Featuring the Plano Firefighters Pipes and Drums, the Youth Trumpet and Taps Corps, & Vocalist Julie Pham Miles.

What could be better after a long Monday than spending the evening with family and friends over a picnic dinner on the lush fresh grass of the Joe Farmer Recreation Center Amphitheatre, enjoying live music filtering through the evening air? Bring a ground blanket and come out for a free performance by the Allen Philharmonic Orchestra and Symphony Chorus. Free

Sunset at Memorial Park
Monday 7pm
Plano Veterans Memorial at Memorial Park
Gather with us as we remember the military men and women who gave their lives in combat for our freedom at Sunset at Memorial Park. Bring a chair or blanket for the 45-minute program. Listen to the reading of the names of the 42 Plano veterans who died in service, followed by a 21-gun salute fired by the Plano Police Honor Guard. A Sunset Motorcycle Ride precedes the ceremony. Parking is available at Schimelpfenig Library and the Plano Chinese Alliance Church.
