The Plano Balloon Festival is happening September 23-25 at Oak Point Park. In addition to several opportunities to see beautiful and interesting hot air balloons you’ll find carnival food, a large kid zone with lots of inflatables, musical performances, sky divers, fireworks and more.

You can wander the park and participate in it all, or hang out on the hill and watch the festivities from a distance. You’re allowed to bring coolers, chairs and blankets to make hanging out more enjoyable. We went on year on a late Saturday afternoon. The crowds started to get heavier after 6pm as that’s when the balloon launch was happening. We got to see the sky divers and a few balloons inflate and take off.

There is a fee to enter the festival ($5/person, 36″ and under are free), and a fee to park. You can purchase tickets for $3 with this AdPages deal. Kid activities are payable per ride or with a wristband. Check the online schedule to figure out when you want to attend.
